Rockefeller & Carnegie Rivalry
Carnegie realized he wants the world to remember him for the good he'd done so he built a wealthy music venue in the heart of Manhattan in 1892. On opening night, Carnegie was praised like royalty, but Rockefeller-also being there-was 3 times richer than Carnegie and still had a bigger presence. This takes Carnegie and Rockefellers' rivalry to new heights.
Carnegie next plans to build the largest steel mill yet outside of Pittsburg called the "Homestead Steel Works". To keep labor costs low, Carnegie appoints Frick to handle it while Carnegie goes back to Dunfermline on vacation. The labor dispute gets out of hand and several workers were killed in a massacre by mercenaries that Frick hired to control protesting workers. Carnegie returns to the U.S and blames Frick for the massacre which results in their relationship deteriorating.
